“feelings live on the front row of our lives like unruly children clamoring for attention. They presume on their justfication in being whatever they are - unlike a thought, which by nature is open to challenge and invites the question “why?”. -Dallas Willard A great word i thought - no pun intended.

ol' isaac on ol' logic
In reference to logic: The great design of this noble science is to rescue our reasoning powers from their unhappy slavery and darkness; and thus, with all due submission and deference, it offers a humble assistance to divine revelation. Its chief business…is to diffuse a light over the understanding in our inquiries after truth.” - Isaac Watts I think logic is wired in. there are...

work today & work tomorrow & the next day who...
It will take a longer to post to explain how I think compartmentalization and or “balance” are bogus. In short you can’t separate work from home or home from work. For example, if you are going through a divorce or your mother dies do you not expect it to effect the 9-5? Vice versa - if your boss is a dragon with a tie do you not expect it to alter the way you approach your...

awake today
the giver of dreams, of cravings, desires that are wholly outside what I can conjure up on my own. cravings are instilled by you. where do we find it but in you? once fully realized that never ending day will be glorious. yearnings are only signs and appetites only hints of what will one day be complete. restored. anew.

sti-zar-bucks
not a fan of corp coffee per-say, however when you live in the burbs it’s a great office away from the office. also - if your in business, it’s where business is done and people network. it’s like a caffeinated Craig’s list. i am pulling an 8-5 at “bucks. (also they just went to free refills on coffee if you register your card, got about 3 down so far)

fat roy
so i have some work travel coming up and I have to look somewhat decent at these showings. that said, jeans ain’t gonna work. as i have began to look for clothes to take with me on the road there are two keys;1) non-iron everything - socks, shirts, pants, etc - all have to be non-iron, 2) clothes have to fit. #2 is posing to be an issue. Seems that Roy has hit a waist line that is no bueno...

what to do
“It can be expressed thus: Is there any meaning in my life that the inevitable death awaiting me does not destroy?” - Leo Tolstoy that’s a hefty question to ask each morning, for some I am not sure how they get out of the bed each morning given their world view. perhaps a fault is how deductive I am, this may keep me in a “box” - however if I truly thought nothing...

“I am a free thinker” “mother of 3” “Democrat” “career driven” Any identity under the sun encourages exclusion to a certain degree. If one were to think themselves a “free and open minded individual” it typically plays out that the same person does not think too highly of the person who is a “closed minded bigot.” What...

popular thought
i think articles like this are good in a way - bad in others. good because it’s an honest perspective on Christian religion (not necessarily what I view as Christian though). That said, this thought can be defeated in about 4 questions, or maybe just two. 1) do you believe in an absolute truth? -chances are Rev. Matt would say No. 2) Are you absolutely sure about that? ...

transitions
I saw Iron and Wine last night, an amazing show no doubt. The thing I couldn’t get over throughout the show was the transitions between songs. They seemed to do a “jam band” esque transition between each song, leading beautifully to the next song. I am not a musician and do not understand the complexity that goes along with something like this - I can appreciate transition...

Well this past Friday the spore count was 3,243 - yes that’s right 3,243…inanimate objects are even having allergy issue. good day to play golf Roy, good job.

they talking about me?
“The EXPECTATION ECONOMY is an economy inhabited by experienced, well-informed consumers from Canada to South Korea who have a long list of high expectations that they apply to each and every good, service and experience on offer. Their expectations are based on years of self-training in hyperconsumption, and on the biblical flood of new-style, readily available information sources, curators...

my idea on my blog
“my idea” - it is truly my idea…nah, i don’t really think I am all that original. however, there are people that have a certain talent for disseminating information that I view as; important, fun, interesting, and so on. that said, i want to be one of those people with that talent. as a non creative person perhaps the only thing I can create is create an interest for...

head long
I think my head leads my heart into worship. I am not saying this is right, or wrong, or what I desire. but I think it is so. for some reason if I start with my heart it goes nowhere…..but when I start with my head, reading apologetics or logically thinking through grace and what it implies- - -my heart is warmed and is inclined to worship. i don’t logically think there is a...

wrong roy
i am wrong. i am wrong often, I will admit that for sure, my friends can attest. what I find curious is people who tell me I am wrong when their position is that there is no such thing as wrong. you would think that when “person A” says there is no such thing as right/wrong and when “person B” says there is such a thing to be a right/wrong - that may just kill the...

Oprah
I think she is a nice person. she is prob is cool to have a beer with. however her philosophy of life/etc is not all that cool or all that smart or not all that _____, fill in the blank, it’s ridiculous. of course she would probably tell me I was wrong, while a few moments later say “no one is wrong, each have their own way”. that being said, check the new book she is promoting....

meme
so is a meme a meme? not sure how creating a definition that undermines the defintion sufficies with accomplishing your end. A meme (pronounced /miːm or mɛm/) consists of any unit of cultural information, such as a practice or idea, that gets transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another. Examples include thoughts, ideas, theories, practices, habits, songs, dances and...
