i heart benjamin franklin & not wanting God to...
let’s be honest - none of us want to be made an example of by God. Where perhaps our job will be lost, our house foreclosed on, etc - and then he uses our story for the advancement of the kingdom and our greater joy later on down the road.
we would much rather lie cozy in our homes, walk to our job with latte in hand & still love God in the same way we do today. it’s all good if...

death of me and getting lost in Chicago
i had a few moments to break away from the hotel & meetings to go running while in chicago. i got directions for a nice loop around the hotel and was excited about my run - it was going to be along a river with a forest preserve.
well….i took a wrong turn because i wound up in a cemetery. a polish catholic cemetery.
at first i was rather disappointed but something said - you need to...

countries I haven't heard of - Andorra
I am always fascinated what life may look like inside a relatively unknow country. I was looking at some sites for work and one of the companys I am researching has a presence is Andorra. I have never heard of it before, but am positive that anyone spending time in North Spain knows about it. I may have even passed through it on a train ride before - either way its a pretty history.

i don't know what to think about hipsters
i have been asked to define ‘hipsters’ on a few occasions. I have been unsuccessful however have found myself more and more intrigued by the pseudo-movement.
i am a casual reader of Adbusters and i thought the article they recently published is a pretty cool look inside the scene, albeit no scene may admit to being actually being hipster.

wiring & green neon signs
we all wonder about our wiring as individuals, its normal ‘pillow talk as we lay there alone in the dark.
what if the wires get crossed? (i am stuck in a job/role that I can’t get out of) what happens if i cut a wire? (i dismiss an idea/passion) what if it they get wet? (rained on - struggles) they fade? (underneath the sun all day, get tired)
etc,etc.
I want to think I have found...

be prepared
because if you are not you talk too much.
I have seen this when I teach or when I go to a meeting and am not prepared. I feel the need to fill space regardless if its meaningless. silence, when you are unprepared, is not deafening - rather it feels like gluttony because you quickly fill your mouth with more words so you can feel comfortable.
also - questions rarely get asked when you are not...

i would like max weber
he sounds pretty cool and i like some of his ideas. not sure on all of his works, but from what i see i like where he takes thoughts. a quick summary on where capitalism came from
Weber wrote that capitalism evolved when the Protestant (particularly Calvinist) ethicenterprises and engaging in trade and the accumulation of wealth for investment. In other words, the Protestant ethic was a force...

….of my soul feels weird.
I was given my journal today by my local barista Joe. I must have left it there last week.
Joe is a great guy, and I have enjoyed getting to know him - but what does he know of me now? Did he read page 36 or page 65….pg 36 is ok, but pg 65 …… yeeeesh.
I don’t actually think Joe read anything - but it got me thinking about what if everyone...
fret
the state i am in. not sure why. could it be that I haven’t had any coffe today.
or could it be a selfish soul.
the latter i am quite sure.
I never did give them hell. I just told the truth, and they thought it was hell.

Recreating the Big Bang
That’s what some physicists are attempting to do in Switzerland/France with the Large Hadron Collider.
I find the project fascinating - and also very expensive. 3.8 billion dollars to date and counting. No doubt some interesting things will be learned from such an experiment, however at the basis of the quest I find futility.
Buddha had an inherant conflict - a sole desire to have no...

if you like your music dirty
then you will like yesterday’s news quintet.
a random assortment of jazz and electronic beats tossed on top. they even use a clavichord.
regrets - we have them - make'em commodities
i have said “i don’t want to live my life with regrets” numerous times throughout my life. i have thought about this statement/sentiment as of late and have found some issues with it.
frankly - regrets are impossible to go without. whenever you make a choice you at the same time are not choosing numerous alternatives. some of those alternatives cause regret at times, often times...

what i am in the mood for
the answer i gave about cliques at my church
cliques are a fact, a norm, all areas of life not just church. if i ever get married i will have groomsmen - that is basically my click of doods that i like a whole bunch and that i will do most of my life with. cliques however at the same time can be warm and authentic. are there still cliques. yes, absolutely. are we fake. yes some. but not all. but even those who aren’t fake are fake at...
